I had the pleasure of remixing the single “Younger” from this lovely collaboration between Laura Gibson and Ethan Rose. Bridge Carols Is a beautiful record, thick with stretched acoustic loops, layers of sparkle and hum, and spontaneous vocal stanzas. Its like folk music made out of clouds…

My Dear friend, close collaborator, master drummer, arranger, and Dub technician Geordie Thompson has gifted us all with the online presence of his all things dubby- Northwest-easy living-groovy-muscular-Musical Clearing House – STUDIO GEORDIE!

He has been posting new Dubs daily from the likes of myself, and a host of other PDX dub thinkers.

We are in the process of latching together a brand new remix compilation of original Portland Beat versions, based around his heavy thumping analog drum recordings of a new STUDIO GEORDIE rhythm  he calls THE PORTLAND BEAT. Stay tuned for this!!!

“OK kids, it’s time for the O Bruxo debut show, this Sat at Langano Lounge! ..O Bruxo is my new project with long-time collaborators JMunny Johnson of Gulls and Evolutionary Jass Band and Papi Fimbres ofpaper/upper/cuts. Throw low-end time keeper Scott Blais into the mix with our twin guitar/twin drum, trumpet,flute, organ attack, and we’ve learned to bring the psychedlic cumbia sonic fury to new heights. You might even dance. Especially about the Dub Battle.  We will be live mixing some heavy new beats courtesy of Tom Tom Thompson, a new riddem he calls “The Portland Step”. These mixes will be live straight off of 1/4inch 4 track tape to a mixer pumping full with aux sends. In the old style , if you will. 🙂

FRESH off the decks is a brand new collaboration betwixt Paul Dickow (Strategy) and Jesse Munro Johnson (Gulls).


“This recording is drawn from multiple sessions of sonic exploration. The focus of these sessions was on live processed percussion (Dickow), and live processed trumpet, mbira, and bells (Johnson). Resulting in lush and vivid sonic maps full of topography and vibrance. Perfect as an early morning wake up soundtrack, pop it up in your headphones and lay in the grass.


Improvised completely fresh and fueled by countless cups of high powered exotic teas, this represents the best sounds from the first sessions. More to come”
