Palate Cleanser #1

Palate Cleanser: Later Summer Afternoon Tea by Gulls

I made this mix after an exhausting day of combing soundcloud for some new music to both Dj, and get excited about.. But all I could seem to find was Trap, Trap and yup more Trap remixes… WTF culture?

I had to remind myself that before all of this saturation fatigue, I used to love M U S I C… you know the kind made by groups of people who wanted to share in a spontaneous sonic moment. Well.. it still exists, and I made this mix to remind myself that. Whilst digging in, i had some fun chopping a few wave forms, re-arranging them, and getting noisy on some filters and Delay… And some how Drake ended up in here too.. LOL

BOOMKAT says…

“Portland-based Jesse Munro Johnson returns with this latest collection of tracks, and while it might be billed as an EP you certainly get a lot for your hard earned pennies. There are only five new tracks from Johnson himself, but he’s bundled those up with a mammoth seven remixes. We’ve got Alter Echo, Teleseen, Swami Million, El Buho, TMRK and Michael Bruce each turning in their versions of Johnson’s complex electroid dub constructions and each one takes the record in a different direction. For our money though it’s the originals that really cement the record’s status, and Johnson drives us through a sublimely well-orchestrated analogue dub factory floor, something like a more cavernous take on Strategy’s affectionate ‘Future Rock’. Well good.”
